Description

The Pot Black Epic 147 is a 57in two-piece cue with an ash shaft and a black butt, fitted with a 10mm Elk Master tip. Ash gives a stiff shaft with the straight grain players sight along when checking alignment.

The Elk Master tip is the part worth paying attention to. It is a soft, single-layer leather tip with a long history in the English game, chosen because it compresses on contact and holds chalk well — the two properties needed to apply side and screw reliably. The trade-off is that soft tips mushroom and want reshaping more often, which is routine maintenance rather than a fault.
